The attached competencies uses Bloom's Taxanomy for categorizing the level of abstraction needed at each level of learner, progressing from up the stage of competency as the learner gains more experience.

As begining learners, students will be assessed on primarily on knowledge and comprehension competencies, given the likelihood of only experiencing a brief, one-session exposure to a group medical visit, usually as an observer/participant.

Residents will more likely participate in a longitudinal experience with a series of group medical visits with the same group of patients, taking an active role in most aspects of the process. They will be primarily assessed on application and synthesis competencies, with some evaluation skills experienced as part of measuring group outcomes and as part of the continuous quality improvement process as applied to the group.

Faculty members will be expected to be competent in synthesis and evaluation skills in their role as teachers, mentors and coaches of the group medical visit process.
